Childhood Dream Come True

Ron has been a serious space advocate since before the first space launch.  Every space launch was a thrill.  Currently, on a clear night the telescope comes our to watch  Venus, Jupiter and Saturn.  Sometimes Little Boys grow up to be Men who still have their dreams.

 So it was that this last October we finally journeyed to the Kennedy Space Center.  He was in Hog Heaven!!!  Just like the little boy in a man's body.

 If you've not had an opportunity to visit, it is a wonderful experience with many gifted and talented people to show you around!  There is even an occasional astronaut available for a picture!

So, I would say an entertaining and educational treat is in store for anyone who visits the Kennedy Space Station and Cape Canaveral.

Once in a Blue Moon

Well, we've flown by Pluto, now, you know, the Dwarf Planet.  It's amazing that for 10 years there are those who waited patiently for this event to happen.  And the amazing thing is that the scientists weren't sure it would be successful.  TEN YEARS!!  I can only imagine the excitement, anxiety, or just sheer terror they must have experienced until the first photos arrived.

I, on the other hand, can never get a good photo of the moon...Well, "once in a blue" one.

When I imagine
Traveling in outer space
My head is spinning

Leaving Mother Earth
It's impossible to me
I have deep roots here
~~~~~
So, in my admiration to those who strive to gain knowledge of the unknown I say, "Thank you!"  Adventures like these only validate the beauty and complexity of God's creation!
The Meteorite Metamorphosis
Do you remember this picture, those "neolithic-looking" rocks, that I thought were so ugly,The Traveler is Home? Today Ron finished sanding some of his meteorite slices. He cleaned up one of the slices and then etched it. I hope you enjoy seeing the change and I hope I was able to capture the process adequately.
This is before...
The process...
The finished product. It is amazing to see how the beauty of this gift of the heavens emerges from the stone.
