Fixing the Mess

 I knit alot.  It's one of the things that makes me happy.  It's  comforting and relaxing (unless of course I have made a mistake and have to unknit it to fix the mistake.)

You've all met Simba.  He's a cat that is anything but lazy.  Unlike his sister, Nala, who is the lazy cat...also the timid cat.  She's  very relaxed all the time.  He is inquisitive.  NOSEY.  He likes to get into things. . .my yarn.  The other day I awoke to this. . .

So with patience (sort of) and perserverance I was able to fix this mess.  It only took me about an hour to remedy this problem. . .

And all the while "you-know-who "was sleeping.

Yep!!  My cat.  What a treasure!

I love my cats!!!

The Dryer Inspector

One day two weeks ago, I was doing laundry when I went to put my first load into the dryer.  What did I find in the dryer but inspecting it.  He was serious.  He was being diligent.  He seemed to be enjoying it. That was the first time, in the ten years that he and his sister came to live with us, that I have found him in the dryer.  Well, before I put the clothers in the dryer, I wiped it out and then put the laundry into it to dry.  He has not been in the dryer since.  I guess it passed inspecion.

Those Darn Cats

Simba and Nala (Sissy) joined our family 6 years ago.  So many have shared about their cats and I thought I'd share our story of them.  You see, they are not the first cats we have had.  First there was Weber who we rescued from a bird's nest in our spruce tree.  She was independent and not very personable but we loved here nonetheless.  Before she passed Sam came to live with us.  He was a real mouser!  Literally caught them and brought them to us so we could praise him.  (Moles were left on our back step before he came in for the night.
On one occasion, when we were remodeling the kitchen, Sam felt it his duty to check out the workmanship of the cabinets.  LOVE that cat!  Sadly Weber died of cancer and Sam died of a blood clot.

That brings me to Simba and Nala.  A young lady I worked with had two kitens, brother and sister.  She as always sharing tales about them.  But one day she came to work saying she was going to have to find a new home for them because her husband was found to be allergic to cats.  She was willing to separate them as she had to find the home soon.  Well, I couldn't see separating brother and sister and so we now have them and they are a delight.  Simba is the active and curious one.  Nala (Sissy) is the lazy, sleepy cat!  Love them both!!

He's such a clown!!

She's so layed back!
Love this brother and sister.

Where has this week gone
Quickly it has passed me by
I wasn't napping

Busyness is an excuse
But I can't use it

Cats Will Play

Cats play with the yarn
All tangled, in disarray
Cats do this you know

Untangle the mess
This is inimitable
So NOW the cats nap

Cat Expression

Simba sits there watching.  Calmly staring without blinking at me.  What is he thinking?  Is he preparing to nap? Is he getting ready to scold me?  His sister is playing with  his favorite toy but  he is not deterred.  I continue to knit and he continues to stare.  This goes on for some time.  (Long enough to get a couple of pictures that are all the same pose.)  Then, just as suddenly as he took this pose, he rises, arches his back to stretch, meows, and leaps from the sofa and off he went.

Perhaps, I should consider this a lesson to me from the sage, Simba, a lesson in calm, peace and tranquility.  And maybe what he is saying to me with those eyes that look so very stern, "Hear what I am saying, be quiet and at peace.  Relax, life is good, remember what I say!!"

Simba is the sage
The cat that's full of wisdom
His eyes say, "listen."

Tranquility his
Calm and peace the lesson
He wants this for all

Mosaic Monday~~Cats

Cats seem to be the popular this weekend in my blog travels.  So I thought I'd share some photos of my cats, Simba and Nala (aka Sissy).  They are brother and sister and oh what fun they offer me each day!
Simba is the once that leaps and flies and climbs.  Nala on the other hand is the pensive one.  No matter!  They are real treasures!

 I particularly like this quote by Garrison Keillor:

“Cats are intended to teach us that not everything in nature has a purpose.”

~~Bad Haiku Friday and Haiku My Heart~~Month of Thanksgiving~~

Duchess, Sam the Cat, and Cocoa

Knowing your own space
Important to discover
There's no conflict here

A lot can be learned from animals.  Certainly there might be conflict but soon they'll find their spot, relax and enjoy.  And it is important, too, learn to that you can be in a group and no one has to say anything.  Just sit and enjoy the quiet!

Thankful today for those quiet times with family and friends.

A Little Cat Humor!

I don't have a clue how he got into the sack, but Sam was perfectly happy just nesting there.  Sam provides us with a lot of humorous moments.  What does your animal do to cheer you?

RotoCat

We have a cat...His name is Sam. His nickname is RotoCat. Why? He's always going out and almost immediately he's meowing to come in again. Sam is also a creature of habit!!!!

He goes out the back door and sits on the step at the front door to come in. Could not resist taking a picture this morning. He's most patient. He sat there and posed until I let him in. WHAT A CAT!!!

Silly Sam the cat
Upon my pillow he sat
Where am I to sleep?

And OH!

My head's all stuffy
My eyes watery and red
DRAT that winter cold!

Would you look at this...

Sam the Regal Cat...

...resting on his royal throne.

The irony is that Sam really appears to look like the cat on the throw...I could only laugh as he seemed entirely oblivious to the camera and me. I wasn't going to ruffle his "royal" feathers. This was my bit of humor today and it was well worth waiting for. Hope you can get a chuckle out of it, too.

I CAN'T BEILIEVE IT!!!

~~~Sam, the Protector~~~
At about 3:30 this morning I was awaken by sounds made by Sam. At first I thought he had just gotten stuck under the bathroom sink again or leaped up onto the hamper and tried to sit in the window sill (but forgot the window was closed). Well, that wasn't it and I couldn't even find him so I went back to bed. Then I heard the noise again and so I got out of bed again and went to the kitchen thinking he had no water or he was "batting" about the feeder because he couldn't get the food to come down. Well, that wasn't it either. About ten minutes later into the bedroom he prances with something that "squeaked". OH, my GOODNESS. Sam had caught a mouse!! No bigger that a small Jalapeno pepper, he sat there on the floor in front of the closet preparing his meal. Then he did, yes he did, he began to eat it...Well, needless to say I had to leave the room. When I returned about 20 minutes later Sam passed me in the dark hall appearing to be quite content and proud of himself. As for me, I crawled back into the bed, pulled the covers up and went back to sleep with a strange feeling of security knowing now I didn't have to set out the "winter" traps.
Oddly enough, I had seen him bear his prize moles to us so we could see and praise him for a "job well done", but I never saw him devour them. But, as he proved this morning he is more that a pretty cat or "that lazy cat". He is a valuable member of the family. He keeps us safe from "little" rodents, this Mouser Extraordinaire.
